At a height of 6 feet tall, Rachel Ferris stands head and shoulders over many performers in the Australian entertainment industry. With a wide range of abilities cultivated through years of training, she is an exceptional commodity in both theatre and film. Rachel began performing on stage at the age of 3 in local dance school concerts, and in the years since has gained professional experience in:

Theatre in education, professional and independent theatre productions, television shows, short films, corporate videos and television commercials such as Holiday Inn, Easy Off Bam and Tip Top short loaves to name a few.

Rachel has a solid commitment to entertain and educate through her professional, engaging and adventurous performances. She worked with Theatre in Education company ‘Class Act’ from 2006-2012 in the high school production of Bully Busters.  This show has taken her to hundreds of schools and thousands of students across the Sydney metropolitan area, not only making them laugh with the crazy antics of her characters ‘Kate Karma’ and ‘Mrs Greasebottom’, but teaching valuable skills in how to cope with the pressures of bullying.  Her love of Theatre in Education also led her to the unique company Alpha Shows in 2008, where she starred in their rock musical of Cinderella.  Rachel found the experience of working with Alpha so unique and life changing, she returned for three consecutive years.

As a dancer Rachel has predominantly trained in tap, though for over 20 years she has dabbled in other dance styles such as ballet, jazz, swing, pole and belly dancing.  Her memorable stint as ‘Emmy Lou’ in Wayne Tunks’ production of The Burlesque Effect ignited a passion for burlesque dancing, which led to Rachel gracing the stage for Gallery Burlesque under the pseudonym ‘Lusty Towers’.

As a day job Rachel has worked for Nova 96.9 as a team leader for the Casanovas, which led to her develop her skills as a voiceover artist under the guidance of industry heavyweight Andrew Carlton. Rachel recently became a member of MACA (Medical And Corporate Actors), a company that provides actors for corporate videos, presentation training and student doctor’s medical exams.  She is also assisting  in the development of the central coast’s new premier Theatre in Education Company, Just Like Theatre, for award nominated actor and director Joseph Issa.

Most recently Rachel was seen in the world premier of Straylight’s Shakespeare’s Queens, which opened to rave reviews at the Adelaide Fringe festival, and will be having a season at Edinburgh in late 2012.

A born actress, dancer and entertainer, Rachel is a performer like no other.
